Bible Study AND PRAYER Group

One of the Aims in our Mission Statement is, “to nurture growth in the Christian Faith.” Furthermore, the Collect for the Last Sunday after Trinity prays that we may “read, mark, learn and inwardly digest” the Scriptures.

We therefore host a monthly Bible Study Group, which meets for about an hour in the Mary Bass Room at All Saints on the second Tuesday of the month, at 7.30 pm.

The group studies the readings set for the coming Sunday, with a special emphasis on the Gospel reading.

Our aim is to set the passage in its context, examining who wrote it, for whom, and why.

We try to open our thoughts to the question, “If it was like that for those people of Faith then, what is it like for us Christians now?”

People sometimes find the prospect of coming along to a Prayer Group rather daunting. They imagine that they will have to pray out loud and that everyone else will be better at doing it.

It is therefore the leader's intention to guide this time of prayer, introducing both national and local concerns and enabling us, by using a mixture of conventional and more innovative means, to pray for each other and for those who have asked for our prayers.

The leader reminds us that Jesus’ disciples asked him to teach them to pray - we are never too old to learn. Come and join us.
